chunk chunk

Large chunk of fifteen written, and that chapter is done. Started sixteen, and skipped ahead to the end of the chapter since it's such a big major super important moment. I don't know if that's how it's going to go down, but the current working version is along the lines of what I want.

Just fill in the back part of sixteen, and I will get to seventeen -- which will officially be the FURTHEST I HAVE GOTTEN IN THE STORY. Ever. Except in the original iteration, where Kaiji (whose name was not Kaiji at the time) went to hell to get Myr back. This is not in the current version of the story, and THANK GOD. I mean, you can only go to hell to get someone back so many times before you start thinking that maybe the Greeks got it right the first two or three times they told that story.

Okay, so, yeah, at this point I have no idea how many more chapters I have to write. One thing is for certain, though. I gotta gotta gotta do my taxes sometime this week. It's the last big thing hanging over my head. Stupid money.

And that's my exciting life. That, and lots of webwork at the bill-paying place.

cannibalize

Let's see. I have to be up at 8:30, and it's 3 now. Hm. Yup. How did one of my characters put it just now?

Sounds about right.

But I came home and I had to write, and so I cannibalized a bit from chapter 19 of the 2002 iteration of the novel. There was an exchange between two characters that needed to stay, so it has stayed.

And with that, Chapter 15 is nearly done. There's a bit more I need to write near the middle, but Chapter 16 is next, and it'll be a veritable funhouse of excitement.

The cat chewing on my knee is a sure sign I must go to bed. Night.

ache

I finally chipped out Chapter Fourteen, and am two pages into Fifteen. Time to go to sleep.

Also did a little research and found out the agent I submitted a work to seven (!) years ago is still accepting submissions. He did say to come back when I wrote a different book....

My right wrist and elbow hurt tonight, which happens sometimes. The muscles in my arms are particularly susceptible to the stress that sometimes builds up in my shoulders and neck. A sure sign I need to exercise more than I have been this past month or two.

No idea if I'll get any writing done tomorrow, since I'll be technically working during part of the day, and we all know what that does to the ol' creative process.

you gave up your love in the carnival raffle

Chip. Chip chip chip.

Another page. Got that one out of the way. The rest of the chapter should go fine and I may even get it done to(morrow||night).

Hooboy.

Yeah. See. One year of anticipation, going straight to hell.

Whoo.

Sleep now. Class tomorrow. Yay.

tendrils of rebar

It's somewhat difficult to type when one has lacerations on the pointing finger of the dominant hand, but I managed to peck out a couple more pages last night.

So let this be a lesson: Fresh-grated nutmeg is good. Fresh-grated finger is not. And Swiss cheese is not supposed to be pink.

Work is busy. My house is a mess. Life goes on.

chip chip

A little more chipping. But not much progress; busy weekend. I made a jellyroll! And a chocolate cake! Mmmm.

Okay, I'm going to bed now.

merry prankster

Chipped at Fourteen some more, but the five hour meeting today (it went to 8 PM, sorry aikido pals), party last week, upcoming party this week, and monument of work pushed on my lumberjack-like back has made it hard to get anything done.

This'll be week three of extracurricular activities on Friday/Saturday, and they always sneak up on me, or so it seems. When the hell did I become a social butterfly?

There's an ominous rumor that I may be receiving a digital camera from loving relatives tomorrow. Should this come to pass, I promise new photos in the photo place.

The cat is attempting to shove his head up my nose, which is a sign I should go to bed. So I shall.

this kind of tempest

One page of Fourteen done. I was writing this in my head during Saturday morning aikido, but didn't get around to it till tonight. I have given up on Thirteen for the time being. But that's the bargain I made with myself when I started writing this. If something slows me down, steamroll over it and keep going. So la de da. I'll fix it later. I know what needs to go there, anyway; I just need to tone down the soap opera OBVIOUSNESS I seem to be so good at falling back on.

Made biscotti. Dipped 'em in chocolate. Made coffee cake. Mmm. Coffee cake.

By the end of this chapter I'll be further along in the story than I've ever been. Ummm. There's a particular scene in about a chapter and a half that will be the culmination of fourteen chapters of setup. And with that, I'll probably be about half-done with the novel. Exciting, n'est pas?

lucky number

Thirteen is not being good on me, and for now I think I'm going to close it and move on. I know in about three months I'll know what to do with it, but right now there are things going on with the characters that weren't dealt with in earlier chapters; stuff that'll be fixed upon second draft.

Gotta clean, gotta clean, gotta clean....
