progress!

Chapter 23 is done. Which is kind of surprising, because I didn't start this one until a couple days ago and now I'm sitting here realizing I managed to pull ten pages out of my ass without realizing it. Uh. I guess this means I'm back to my old progress?

So, anyway, if all goes well I'll work on 24 tomorrow and during the weekend. Yaaaay progress.

hazy shade of summer

More work on Chapter 23. Three pages from the end of that.

I think I need to do some outlining for what's to come, or at least some momentum. Must...think....

No. Grass is high. Must mow lawn.

(grumble)

Show-Me Con

In a rare turn of events, I will be going to Show-Me Con on Saturday.

This is probably the first time I'll pay for a convention in ten years. Wheee!

Look for the extremely bubbly brunette with titanium hooks for hands.

yellow curry

Yellow curry figures into my story tonight, simply because it's what I had for dinner.

Creative recycling of leftovers was on the menu today. The curry was from Saturday's Thai visit (I added veggies for tonight's portion). Lunch was re-purposed tacos from the local Mexiteria. They always stuff way too much meat in their carne asada tacos, so I order one and then get a packet of tortillas to divide the meat amongst.

Anyway, I went back and reread some of chapters 17-20 and y'know what? They don't suck as much as I thought they did. Not exactly high art, but I never said I wanted to do that.

WordPerfect is teh suck, as is OpenOffice and AbiWord. Let no one ever say I didn't give OpenSource a fair crack. I am now going back to my MegaCorp-sponsored software. Thankyouverymuch.

And now, your moment of Zen.

more thumbscrews

My very enduring and dear friend Jeff has started reading Steven Brust for the first time (after eight years of me uttering phrases such as: "What do you mean you've never read the Vlad books?"). Two days into Jhereg, he commented to me that it reminds him of my writing.

I can take this one of several ways.

Ideally, the answer is c), but somehow, I'm not so sure.

But anyway, I am back from Europe, which was fun, but the water was awfully expensive. Cathedrals and basilicas, however, are very cool, and someday soon I will have photos of places where people are buried in the floor, sex shops are on every other corner, and the hot chocolate is thick enough to stand spoons up in.

My flight was comprised of me trying to write work documents, watching Adam Sandler/Ben Stiller films, and reading a truly awful 600-page "epick fantasye" novel that made my teeth itch. I endured it, though, and I came back and got 1/3rd of the way through chapter 23 when my new computer arrived, and thus ensued a night or two of backing up, transferring, and burning to CD various and sundry.

Now I must go to bed. Na-night.
