more thumbscrews
My very enduring and dear friend Jeff has started reading Steven Brust for the first time (after eight years of me uttering phrases such as: "What do you mean you've never read the Vlad books?"). Two days into Jhereg, he commented to me that it reminds him of my writing.
I can take this one of several ways.
- a) Jeff is insane.
b) I copy from the writers I like more than I originally thought.
c) My writing has gotten better.
d) Steven Brust is secretly a crazed brunette catlady with titanium hooks for hands who goes by the subtitle of "Pretentious Bitch".
But anyway, I am back from Europe, which was fun, but the water was awfully expensive. Cathedrals and basilicas, however, are very cool, and someday soon I will have photos of places where people are buried in the floor, sex shops are on every other corner, and the hot chocolate is thick enough to stand spoons up in.
My flight was comprised of me trying to write work documents, watching Adam Sandler/Ben Stiller films, and reading a truly awful 600-page "epick fantasye" novel that made my teeth itch. I endured it, though, and I came back and got 1/3rd of the way through chapter 23 when my new computer arrived, and thus ensued a night or two of backing up, transferring, and burning to CD various and sundry.
Now I must go to bed. Na-night.
