I got the scene out of me. On to other scenes. My character now has a problem. I gotta figure out where we're going next.

Work has been unusually heavy lately, and that means little time to sleep and eat, much less write.

While we were at the San Juan Capistrano mission, I saw a lot of jacaranda. So I wrote them into this chapter. Along with the mission.

Been sick and/or under deadline. Haven't been writing. Back now.

I'm worried it's not hooky enough. Eh. I know better than to worry too much about that at this stage.

I took a couple right turns between one day to the next, which means I actually wrote half again what I needed. I used to keep these bits of unused writing, but after years of keeping an "odds and ends" file that never got accessed again, I know you need to just kill the words. It may have seemed clever in context, but there's more clever stuff coming, honest.

So anyway, chapter two starts tomorrow. In the meantime, my brain gets to decide where it's starting.

Cannot for the life of me figure out how to network my computers. Suspect that XP and Vista do not want to cooperate. I wouldn't care so much, except my frickin' music is all over on Gertrude (the PC in the basement), while Violet (the laptop) has very few tunes to her name.

Time to wash up and make dinner. Yay!

I wrote today, and I wrote yesterday, in one of the three projects.

On non-writerly-related writing, I also am working on a new campaign setting for my D&D campaign.

I've never thought about publishing any of my campaigns...but I kind of am keeping that in mind for this one. Probably hubris on my part, but who knows? It could come in handy someday.

Which just reminds me of why it is semi-dumb to do any writing using Google Docs.

I went back to an old idea I liked, dumped parts of it I didn't, and added a fresh chapter. Word count tomorrow.

Edit: 7415 words. Three chapters. Now I just need to throw a vat of boiling pitch on the heroes.

That said, I'm seriously eyeballing this whole site consolidation thing for the following reasons:

1. I like blogging
2. I don't feel it meaningfully gets in the way of my regular writing.
3. The older I get, the harder it is for me to be scattered.
4. Someone, somewhere, is reading this.
5. AND (most important) I like writers who blog and connect with their audiences.

I'm thinking again about my writing, and I'm set on two big purchases this year: a laptop and a mountain bike. The latter may sound like it has nothing at all to do with writing, but there's something else I believe in -- getting away from the keyboard is a good thing. And my best ideas usually strike me while I'm doing physical activity or out in the wild. Why not combine both?

So, that's what's up here at the Three Cuppa. A new design will be forthcoming, along with posts that are more than just "wrote ten words, fed the cat, went to bed". Comments will open up. The heavens will rain with love and kisses.

Oh, and I did some more outlining.
